Dew covered the clearing as it was still early morning. The sun was only just rising in the clear sky. Few cats were awake as of yet and the dawn patrol was soon to leave when the deputy left the den to speak with Ghoststar in her den. One cat was up before all, Spottedstorm. She had to pick some fresh herbs for Hailpaw’s first lesson before showing her where to find each herb. A large leaf with the herbs wrapped in it, the medicine cat came through the entrance and walked towards the medicine den where she was sure Hailpaw was still sleeping. Upon entrance she saw her apprentice still curled asleep in her nest. She shook her head and put the pile of herbs in the main part of the den where she treated the sick and wounded. Her nest was in the back and the herb storage was to the left of the den. Hailpaw had her own part of the den where at one time Spottedstorm spent her moons. Spottedstorm then left and was sniffing through the herbs in storage.

Hailpaw lifted her head and yawned. "Good morning, Spottedstorm." purred Hailpaw, stretching in her nest. "Did I awaken to late?" Hailpaw questioned, concerned, as she began to groom her sleep-ruffled fur.

The young medicine cat turned with a few other herbs clamped between her jaws. Her ears were angled towards her apprentice as she heard the cat begin to stir in her nest before speaking. Spottedstorm was leaving the storage area and was in the main den placing the herbs as Hailpaw began to ask about her waking up late. Spottedstorm couldn’t help but smile slightly before she turned to the young apprentice. She remembered waking up and thinking it was mid day since Specklepelt had been an early riser, seemed that was one of the habits she had picked up over the moons of train and spending time with her mentor. It pained her to think of her great mentor but she tried not to think about it too hard. “You’ll find I’m and early riser sometimes, and no you’re actually up quiet early.” Spottedstorm meowed as she watched the apprentice straighten her fur. “Eat then come back and I would like to ask you a few things before we start our training for the day.” She continued, she’d already eaten this morning therefore she wasn’t hungry for the moment.

Hailpaw nodded and padded out of the Medicine Cat Den, careful not to step on any stray herbs. Hailpaw padded over to to the Fresh Kill Pile and chose a plump mouse. Laying down in a sunny spot, Hailpaw began to eat the mouse and sun herself. Ivytail padded over to Hailpaw and lay down beside her sister. "How's your first day of training?" yawned Ivytail, eyeing the mouse. "I don't know yet." Hailpaw shrugged. "I haven't started yet. You know what? I'm not hungry enough to eat. I'm too excited." Hailpaw pushed the half-eaten mouse to Ivytail, stood up, and padded back to the Medicine Cat Den. Hailpaw sat down at the edge of the den and curled her tail neatly around her paws. "What was it that you wanted to ask me?" Hailpaw purred.

Spottedstorm arranged her herbs in order from what she thought were easy to what were harder herbs. The mixed scents swirled around her again reminding her why she loved her position in Shadowclan. She didn’t have to wait long after Hailpaw left till the apprentice returned to the den. She could feel the excitement coming off of the young cat in waves. Spottedstorm had forgotten last night to ask Hailpaw what her mentor had asked her. She allowed Hailpaw to settle before she turned her amber gaze to the cat. “It isn’t much but I must remind you of the basic rules or practices of a medicine cat, and if you agree to them we shall continue.” Spottedstorm meowed letting her take that in. “As you know medicine cats cannot have kits, you must give up the chance to have kits and a mate. Instead of training you in fighting and hunting I will be teaching you in the ways of healing and how to walk as one with Starclan. Trading these things you’ll learn to heal and care for the wounded and weak, as well as receive dreams from Starclan to help your clan.” The young medicine cat said as she watched and waited for Hailpaw to say something. “Are you ready for this?” She then asked kindly but still there was a stern sound in her voice.

Hailpaw nodded. "Don't medicine cats learn to hunt and fight just in case though?" She meowed.

The older she-cat nodded before responding to the young apprentice’s question. “I will be showing you basic hunting and fighting, but our main focus is on the healing end of our job, as well as reading signs Starclan gives us.” Spottedstorm meowed before flicking her tail to the herbs laid out at her feet. There was marigold, poppy seeds, cob webs, juniper berries and a few other common herbs she used regularly. “We’ll begin then with the names of herbs. Later I will also show you where these herbs are located, how to identify them and how to pick them so that more can grow in its place.” Spottedstorm meowed. “Now these are so herbs you might have heard of or seen. Can you tell me any you recognize or know the name of?” She asked as she watched Hailpaw look of the many herbs.

Hailpaw flicked her tail and plastered her ears against the top of her head in concentration. "Well, that one is cobweb, used to stop the bleeding." Hailpaw barley touched her nose to the sticky substance. Hailpaw scanned the row of herbs again. "That's poppy seed." This time, instead of using her nose, Hailpaw lightly swept her tail across the small seed. "It's used to for putting cats to sleep to ease pain." Hailpaw leaned down and sniffed at the juniper berries. "I don't know what juniper berries are good for... But I do know that these are juniper berries." Hailpaw questioned softly. "And that's marigold." Hailpaw flicked her tail at the marigold flower and sat up straight, eyes shining. She knew those herbs, and knew she was right. For her first day of being a Medicine Cat Apprentice, Hailpaw was doing pretty good, in her own opinion anyway.

Spottedstorm smiled slightly again as she watched Hailpaw think about her answers or questions. She nodded to everything the young cat said. She was pleased that Hailpaw knew a few things like the basic herbs she had put out. The medicine cat allowed her to finish before she spoke. “Juniper berries are used for belly ache and can be used to help those who are having troubles breathing.” She meowed calmly. Her tail swayed to the side laying before the marigold flowers. “Marigold can be chewed to a pulp and applied to wounds to stop infection from causing further damage to the wound. Burdock root,” her tail pointed to a new herb, “it is used when chewed for rate bites. I am impressed you knew what you knew. Identify herbs is very important. Now do you know what borage leaves are used for?” Spottedstorm then asked as she nudged the herb forward for Hailpaw to examine. The herb was a common in the nursery. ooc:I'm soooo sorry my english project took up my time I'm sorry I made you wait.  |

OOC: It's okay!
IC: Hailpaw flicked her tail. "Borage is used commonly in the Nursery, to help queens supply their milk." Suddenly, a yowl erruppted from the center of camp. "A MYSTERY CLAN IS ATTACKING!" Hailpaw screeched and leaped backwards as a RiverClan warrior burst into the medicine den and tried to tackle her. Hailpaw saw out of the corner of the Nursery that the only queens in the Nursery were fighting outside of the Nursery-and a RiverClan apprentice was sneaking in. Hailpaw dashed out of the Medicine Den so fast she was like air. Hailpaw bolted across the camp and tackled the MysteryClan apprentice to the ground. While the apprentice was stunned, Hailpaw burst into the Nursery. The four kits-who Hailpaw did not memorize the names of yet-where crouched in the corner of the Nursery. "Come on!" Hailpaw growled, picking two kits up by their scruff together and putting the other two on her back. Using the hidden back emergency exit in the Nursery Hailpaw hurried up the tunnel with the kits and reappeared at the top of the ravine, looking down at the battle. She caught her mentor's eye and swished her tail at the forest, telling Spottedstorm she was running into the forest with the kits. Without waiting for Spottedstorm to reply, Hailpaw turned and bounded through the forest. The kits squealed at the exhiliration from being out in the forest before they reached six moons, unknowing why they were really out there being carried by the newly made Medicine Cat Apprentice. Hailpaw saw a tree whose gnarled roots would made great shelter for the kits. As she bounded over, Hailpaw screeched and leaped back as a MysteryClan cat leaped out. "I knew a cat would come here with kits!" the cat growled, circling Hailpaw. She could feel the kits on her back burrying themselves into Hailpaw's fur in fear. The kits that hung from her jaws whimpered. Hailpaw darted her eyes to the gnarled tree roots, pretending she was going to leap there. When the warrior jumped in front of the roots to block Hailpaw's fake way, Hailpaw sped through the forest as fast as she could. Her small legs were tired, for she hadn't usually run a lot, but Hailpaw kept going, even after she scented that she was out of ShadowClan territory. Though the rule was if you were five fox lengths from the lake border, then you were technically in another Clan territory, and five fox lengths was pretty big, Hailpaw kept herself paw deep in the water, running so fast it splashed her and the kits. The kits whined on her back, but Hailpaw shook her head. "Stop getting us wet!" one of the kit's protested. "Please, just be silent and hang on." Hailpaw replied around the fur of the other two kits. Hailpaw clammered up a hill full of rocks and soon found herself in the Moonpool Cave. Hailpaw placed the kits in the darkest corner of the cave and curled protectivly around them, watching the cave entrance carefully.

yes I am. Also, I am so glad to see you back here!!! We now have 7-8 active members!! *Does happy dance*
Also, you cant just decide any clan attack for that matter.. so can you just fix your post? Thanks. I wont penalize you becuase you are new and I know that you didnt know.
